The third week of January welcomed the second-annual Extreme Leadership Summit, a chance for the Officers, Managers, and representatives from each church-planting team to come together to inform, review, correct/adjust, pray, fellowship, worship, dream, plan, and strategize. I had the honor of attending and representing both the Ambato Cluster and the Short-Term Missions Department of Extreme.
Two major products were released as a result of these meetings. The first was determining the core values of the organization as a whole. They are Discipleship, Unity, Passion, and Growth, all functioning around the foundation of personal spiritual disciplines among those in the organization, at every level. The second product was a 6-year, aggressive growth strategy called 12×2020.
The idea of 12×2020 is that, by the year 2020, Extreme as an organization is planting twelve churches per year. That means two in 2015, three in 2016, four in 2017, six in 2018, nine in 2019, and twelve in 2020. It is a per-year number, not a cumulative total. That means that, in the next six years, we have the goal of planting a total of thirty-six churches. We have four more church plants planned in Ecuador, two in Argentina, one in Chile, and one in Uruguay, and the rest are not yet determined (the planned locations get us into 2017).
This will mean significant growth in every of the ministry and create a great need for staffing – 40/40 Church-Planting Missionaries, Cluster Coordinator couples, Wellbeing staff, Accountants, Mobilizers, Short-Term Project staff, Network/IT Professionals, Marketing Professionals, Messaging/Communications (including within short-term), Donor Relations Staff, Human Resources, Medical staff, Pastoral families, Short-Term Missionaries and Education/Training/Equipping staff based in both Quito, Ecuador and Cali, Columbia for everyone in Extreme.
In Anndee and my area of responsibility in Short-Term, this represents roughly 140 short-term teams, 2,100 or so short-term missionaries, as well as 25-30 Project Coordinators and five to six Communications Coordinators in the next six years alone.
37 Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. 38 Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.”
The single biggest need we have in the ministry of Extreme is people who are willing to say “Here I am, Lord! Send me!”
But we have to pray, as Jesus said in Matthew 9.

We need hundreds of people to make this happen. The sending of workers depends on the prayers of the people. Next week, there are interviews of 17 people in Chile. These people are interviewing for pastoral positions, 40/40 Church-Planters, and South American Mobilizers. Please pray that God’s will would be done in regard to these, and that we would see the beginning of the sending out of workers in great quantities.
